ROBERTO CAVALLI has confirmed that it has appointed former Versace chief executive officer Gian Giacomo Ferraris as its new CEO.
Ferraris formerly worked as CEO for Donatella Versace at her family fashion house from 2009 to May this year when he was replaced by Alexander McQueen alumni Jonathan Ackeroyd. Cavalli's existing CEO, Renato Semerari, is leaving his position this September as a result of "divergences on the company's development strategy".
"A deep knowledge of the sector and important professional experiences matured by Gian Giacomo Ferraris will allow Roberto Cavalli to consolidate its relaunch, a foundation of the development plans for the company," said a statement from Clessidra, which owns Roberto Cavalli SpA.
Prior to Versace, Ferraris racked up positions at leading fashion houses including Gucci, Prada and Jil Sander. He called his new employer an "iconic brand, that I know and appreciate, loved by celebrities and trendsetters around the world," and promised to immediately get to work delivering new initiatives.
Ferraris will now work alongside the brand's other recent recruit Peter Dundas. Dundas joined the brand from Emilio Pucci last year and is set to show his third collection for the house this September during Milan Fashion Week.
